At The Noguchi Museum, join an extended conversation about Isamu Noguchi’s Lunar light sculptures on view on the second floor in the exhibition Against Time: The Noguchi Museum 40th Anniversary Reinstallation. In the 1940s, Isamu Noguchi experimented with making self-illuminated sculptures. He later wrote, “I thought of a luminous object as a source of delight in itself—like a fire it attracts and protects us from the beasts of the night.” Join a Noguchi Museum educator for slow-looking and discussion about these otherworldly works, which are also precursors to Noguchi’s most famous works in light, the paper and bamboo Akari lanterns. Free with admission. Advance registration is not required.
